Follow the Money
A continuing research series that folds global and Turkish macro, money flows, commodities, food, supply chains and climate into one read of conditions. It does not forecast asset returns; it reads conditions and checks its own dated projections in public.

Did the era of cheap money just end in Japan?
Japan's 10-year yield is at 3.1%, the highest since 1996. This month US 10-year yields hit their highest since 2002 and real yields since 2008, while stocks sit near records. In oil, a physical barrel traded $33 above the futures price.

Why are Turkish companies borrowing abroad at the fastest pace since 2008?
Turkey's non-bank companies take on $181 of new foreign debt for every $100 that falls due, a pace last seen in late 2008. Behind it is simple arithmetic: lira deposits pay 44% while the dollar rises about 22% a year against the lira.
This series reads macro conditions. It does not forecast the return of any asset, and nothing in it is a call to trade.
