Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of InvestMuse. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If something here is unclear, write to [email protected] and we will answer in plain language. Last updated 2026-08-12.

// SECTION 1

Who we are and what this covers

InvestMuse is an analytical software service operated under the trade name InvestMuse. These terms cover your use of the service. Where a purchase is made through a third-party reseller or merchant of record, that provider is the seller for that transaction and its own terms govern the sale itself; these terms still govern how you may use the service.

// SECTION 2

What the service is — and what it is not

InvestMuse is analytical and backtesting software. It surfaces patterns in price, fundamentals, news sentiment and historical analogues, and presents them as observations you interpret yourself.

InvestMuse is also a game for building investing skills. Members get virtual money ($100,000 of play money) to build portfolios, take Long or Short positions and compete on a leaderboard and in a monthly contest against other members, five fictional Portfolio Commentators and our own algorithm. Every portfolio, trade and profit or loss on InvestMuse is simulated: no real money is invested, won or lost. Contest prizes (such as full access to the service for a year, or prizes offered by a sponsor) are announced on the site together with their rules; we may change or end a contest, and we may exclude entries that break these terms or try to game the ranking. The Portfolio Commentators are fictional characters and the views they express are their own, not advice.

It is not a broker, an adviser, or a trading service. There is no trade execution, no brokerage connectivity, no personalised investment recommendation and no trading signal. We hold no client funds and place no orders. We do not issue ratings or price targets. Nothing on the service is investment, legal or tax advice, and past performance does not guarantee future results. Every decision you take is yours.

// SECTION 3

Your account

You need an account to use the paid features. Keep your credentials to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person; do not share, resell or sublicense access. Tell us at [email protected] if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and you must not use the service where doing so would break local law.

// SECTION 4

Subscriptions, cancellation and refunds

InvestMuse is sold as a subscription — monthly or annual — charged in advance for the period ahead. Prices are shown in USD. The full terms, including the 7-day trial that takes no card, how to cancel with no fee and no notice period, and the 7-day money-back window, are set out in Subscriptions, cancellation & refunds and form part of these terms.

// SECTION 5

Acceptable use

Do not scrape, bulk-download or redistribute the data or analyses; do not attempt to breach, overload or reverse-engineer the service; do not use it to build a competing dataset; and do not present its output as advice to others. We may suspend an account that does any of these, and we will tell you why.

// SECTION 6

Data and privacy

What we collect and why, who processes it, how long it is kept and the rights you hold over it are set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

// SECTION 7

Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Market data comes from third-party providers and can be delayed, incomplete or wrong; we surface it as received. We may change, add or withdraw features. If a change materially reduces what you have paid for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your period.

// SECTION 8

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, InvestMuse is not liable for investment losses, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

// SECTION 9

Ending the agreement

You may stop using the service and cancel at any time. We may end your access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, or if we are required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive — liability, acceptable use, governing law — continue to apply after the agreement ends.

// SECTION 10

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top always shows the current version, and material changes are announced by email to account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
